Are you new to following Jesus? At Abundant Life, we’re here to help you grow in your relationship with Him through steps and resources designed to strengthen your faith.
“’But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’” — Matthew 16:15-16
Do You Know Jesus?
Jesus desires a personal relationship with you. Have you accepted Him as your Savior?
- We Have All Sinned: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
- God Loves Us: Despite our sin, God sent Jesus to save us by paying the price for our sins (Romans 5:8).
- Eternal Life Is a Gift: “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
- Jesus Is the Perfect Sacrifice: Only Jesus, sinless and holy, could pay the penalty on our behalf (2 Corinthians 5:21).
- Confess and Believe: “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

How to Grow in Your Faith
There are two key ways to begin understanding who Jesus is to you:
1. Discipleship
Connect with another follower of Jesus for mentorship. A mentor can guide you in applying God’s Word, praying with you, and supporting your spiritual journey. Faith in Jesus brings life transformation, and discipleship helps facilitate that change.
2. Spiritual Disciplines
Spiritual disciplines train you to grow strong in your relationship with God. These practices include:
Abiding in Christ
Prayer
Studying the Bible
Living out your faith
Sharing Jesus with others
Resources to Help You Grow
Abiding in Christ
Abiding means living in daily union with Jesus, recognizing your dependence on Him.
Key Verse: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit” (John 15:5).
Next Steps: Praise God, meditate on His goodness, and let His Word guide your life.
Prayer
Prayer is a powerful way to connect with God.
Key Verse: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer… let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Next Steps: Use the A.C.T.S. model (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) to deepen your prayer life.
Reading the Bible
The Bible reveals God’s heart and His plan for you.
Key Verse: “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your Word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart” (Jeremiah 15:16).
Next Steps: Start with the book of John and use the S.O.A.P. method (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer).
Community
God designed us to grow in faith alongside others.
Key Verse: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
Next Steps: Surround yourself with a biblical community where you can share your struggles, victories, and faith.
Sharing Your Faith
Evangelism means telling others about Jesus and the hope He offers.
Key Verse: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Next Steps: Memorize key verses like Romans 3:23, 5:8, and 6:23, and use the “Roman Road” to share the gospel simply and biblically.
